Supergirl.

...and then she'd say
That nothing can go wrong
When you're in love
What can go wrong?

...and then she'd say, It's okay
I got lost on the way
But I'm a supergirl
and supergirls don't cry...

You can see in her eyes
That no one is her chain
She's my girl, my supergirl...

...and then she'd scream in my face
Tell me to leave, leave this place
'Cause she's a supergirl
and supergirls just fly...

Intergalactic trend

Bebe Galaxy dress

Galaxy print has been trending since beginning of the 2011. again mostly through digital print fabrics which later expanded to galaxy print manicures, clutches, platform shoes and DIY projects for fashion bloggers trying to imitate the expensive digital print on silk dresses from Resort 2011. runway shoes, champion of which was Christopher Kane's Resort 2011. collection.

Focused and precise as ever, Christopher Kane has showed us collection as if it would be viewed through the lens of the telescope. Kane's Resort 2011. collection featured gorgeous silk cashmere knitwear, voluminous silhouettes combined with leather jacket and  flaring nebulae exploding print.

Although I never follow trends blindly, a good way to adjust the trend you like to your personal style is to pick the styles you like, for example I wear a pencil skirt a lot because it suits my figure and it is appropriate for the job I have, but then I can play in a way that I wear a galaxy print silk skirt as a main outfit piece and then I wear a one color button up or an organic cotton t-shirt with some bold jewelry and a tailored cotton or a leather jacket.

My Free People shopping list for Fall

Since they are one of my affiliates and I already wrote about this brand as one of my Top 10 favorite fashion brands, I spend a fair amount of time browsing through Free People website, however since they haven't had a store in Europe, I was bound to continue to purchase only online, which was good because there are always sales and some online exclusives, but not so good if you look at the amount of money I paid for shipment through the years. :)

This is why I am extra happy knowing that Free People (part of Urban Outfitters group) is finally opening a store location in Europe, more specifically in London. Ok, London is not still in Croatia but I am traveling via London a lot so this might be one of my next shopping routes. Bellow you can see a sneak preview of the Free People FW 2012. Campaign video with Karlie Kloss & Aline Weber

While at it, I picked couple of "I will die if I don't buy" items and saved them in my shopping card until my next salary. Bellow you can see my shopping/wish list.

I love how Free People dress fit and somehow I always pick the ones with open back (yes I know, this means wearing no bra, ouu well! ;) ).

I am still thinking if I should get the black lace dress which is available in couple of more colors but I prefer black, but I am certain I need and want the maxi bellow.

I got similar massive cardigan (maybe a bit shorter) last year in Zagreb from Scotch & Soda and although it was warm it stretched a lot in the first wash. This one is not a plain wool, it is a blend so it won't be itchy and it won't stretch, based on the website reviews it is worth 1043 kn.

Flower power cardigan (this is the same one in 2 different colors)

Don't you totally adore the shirt bellow? There is no reviews on the website about it yet but I am getting it for sure, it is nicely tailored, made out of vegan leather which is super cool and I think I will get a lot of wears out of this one for sure, it goes perfectly with my rusty red jeans and biker boots.

I love the style and hot pink color of these destroyed skinnies (I also like the yellow ones they have) I am just not yet sure if I am skinny enough to wear them as there is only 2% spandex in them, plus the price is a bit high.

I had a genuine leather skirt like this, and if you remember from one of my older posts, my mum hot washed it and it shrunk to Barbie size (RIP). So this is a true reason behind why I need the skirt bellow. It is not on trend but timeless actually, I can wear it year around and it really goes with everything.

My boyfriend said he would kill for these Chucks in his size and since military look and colors are making a comeback this Fall I am thinking about getting these and wear them event to work on Fridays. I do have couple of pairs of Chucks in lighter colors but not for the rainy and foggy Fall weather.

Did you ever order anything from Free People online or bought from their store? What are your experiences? How do you like my selection above? ;)

Denim trends 2012.

Mavi Jeans by Hussein Chalayan

Inspired by the article I read in today's edition of WWD I decided to dedicate this post to current trends in denim business. The article was about recently held Bread&Butter trade fair in Berlin where many companies came to present and retailers and brands to make orders for fabrics for upcoming seasons.

Many denim company representatives talked about this ever more-challenging European business climate, a need to diversify out of their signature products to meet and anticipate consumers demand.

While denim color more or less remains pervasive there are other trends which have shown to be a key diversifiers in denim Premium market (read jeans which cost more then $150) are:

customary themes: color, pattern and sustainability
-  highlighting pattern and texture
- softer denim, whether it be stonewashed, dyed or lasere
- tribal print jeans
- gold and silver metallic jeans
- jeans with
- snake patterns and velvet prints
- the embellished pocket

Overall the new trend is "soft and light" jeans in terms of fabrication.
Here are some ways the leading denim companies are trying to stand out in the crowd and bring in more consumers.

Paper Denim & Cloth is back in business, their new designs will be available for purchase via their website in September, 2012. with a few basic styles, which will expand to the full spring assortments in December. For spring, the men’s denim assortment includes three fits and the women’s includes six fits, with each in six to 10 washes. These new lines will retail from $165 to $240.

G-STAR RAW
                                                                          G-Star Raw Lookbook

the bulk of G-Star's sales is men’s, and now the brand is determined to take its women’s denim into new areas, showcasing a full collection of women’s shorts, dresses, jackets and shirts, along with accessories and shoes.
I have never purchased a pair of G-star jeans, but I remember from the stores that they are a good quality jeans and a good fit, their price was not a fit for me however so I ended up buying Salsa jeans instead. What I liked on the other hand was a clean look and pocket design.

HUDSON JEANS
Georgia May Jagger for Hudson Jeans

Hudson Jeans is a well known British denim brand loved by many celebrities like the face of their most recent campaign Fall 2011.with Georgia May Jagger in the main role.

Hudson's signature detail is a flip pocket but they are certainly scanning the market well and following the trends and producing multi-color and metallic stretch jeans.

MAVI
Turkish denim brand Mavi Jeans has differentiated by partnering with Turkish-Cypriot designer Hussein Chalayan who created a jeans wear line exclusively for women geared to the premium customer. Chalayan Mavi jeans, now in its third season, retails for $179 to $369.

DIESEL
Diesel has been for years my favorite denim company. Although their jeans is quite expensive (at least here in Croatia) and in terms of customer service sales ladies in their stores are not really nice, I love that they have skinny jeans in tall sizes. I have really long legs and was always able to find a great quality denim jeans in Diesel which lasted for more then 3 years a pair.

Iconic fashion photographer Steven Meisel creates the series of modern Screen Tests, featuring some of top models like: Karen Elson, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Jamie Bochart, Fei Fei Sun, Coco Rocha, Mirte Maas, Sid Ellisdon, Ethan James, Yuri Pleskun, Sallieu Jalloh and Dae Na.

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY
Citizens of humanity is not just a brand, it is actually a concept of living, a learning of how to be a good citizen. This brand is quite complex in its simplicity actually. My favorite are the bellow selected jeans from Fall 2012. collection with various patterns and textures, I particularly love the lipstic red high-wasted jeans, but all of these can be worn casual and dressy.

I loved loved loved their amazing editorial (not jeans) which you can check out on my Tumblr blog here.

SALSA JEANS
I already listed Salsa Jeans as one of my top 10 fashion brands, and it truly is, and this is why...I first discovered Salsa jeans a year or so ago when I started to frequent to Spain as my boyfriend lives there. Salsa is a Portuguese brand sold now all over the world and what I like about their jeans is an amazing but fit they have. Indeed, Salsa jeans has a unique technology of tailoring in which jeans hug your curves, especially your butt and it lifts it up to look amazing! I got a skinny black jeans (they did fade in color a bit) and a straight leg dark jeans which I still wear and adore. They have a bit of a stretch in them and they do not relax after couple of wears which is great.

Smaller jeans brands seem to be slowly taking over the market piece by piece, some of these are: Mother, Current/Elliott, Big Star, Agave Denim, Genetic Denim and AG Adriano Goldschmied, Miss Me, Rock &Revival, 3x1, Paige Denim etc.

What are your favorite denim brand lovelies and why?

Clearly perfect.

How do you feel about clear plastic heel shoes lovelies? Ever since they have started making their comeback, first shoe designers have still last fall season introduced sheer fabric, lace or naylon cleavage shoe, next they have cleared the heel and platform and now we have the combo of both up to a completely PVC made shoe with a dash of leather or a patent leather and beads for summer and clear heel on booties and platforms for upcoming Fall season.

High-end to retail - they are all going clear :) so I pulled a couple of lovely plastic-fantastic shoe pieces with my favorite being Nina Ricci and Zara.

Designer crush: Stéphane Rolland

I have been following this amazing designer brand develop and I was particularly thrilled to see his 5year anniversary Fall Couture 2012. show. Famous by his architectural style and sharp bold cuts, for this collection Stephane Rolland chose the pallet of ivories, black and royal scarlet red.

Gorgeous red carpet worthy gowns made of chiffon, silk and jersey were accessorized with chunky gold jewelry, belts and matching hardware details on platform sandals. My favorite were the next three gowns with 3D sculptural details and red feather tail siren dress.

The show was closed by amazing Yasmin Le Bon wearing massive red jersey wedding gown which was made out of 49 yards or fabric and needed two assistants to be able to walk down the runway.

This has to be one of the best shows I have seen recently, it had a strength, focus, it is wearable and made out of great quality fabrics.I am sure that the prices are high but each of these gowns is certain to be a show stopper and "all eyes on me" kind of red carpet dress. I am looking forward to see these dresses on magazine covers.

How do you like Stephane Rollands five year anniversary collection?
