Be jeweled.

How do you pick your jewelry darlings?

I got to thinking about it the other day in hospital, as I was playing with the Kabala bracelet on my wrist which I recently got from a dear friend from Egypt. What does it mean to you? Is it emotional and religious? Does it vary season to season? What is the purpose of wearing it?

For me, jewelry tells the story about the person, just like tattoos or scars it gives you a bit of a background or deeper understanding about the person wearing it. It is definitely emotional, brings back some memories and it is cherished more than trendy clothes we change each season.

With all this in mind, I was inspired to collect and show you the pieces that motivate and inspire me personally – I  expecially adore costume jewelry and every piece of jewelry in my  jewelry box (es) has its own story.
Why stop at wearing rings, bracelets and necklaces – how about wearing an ear piece or fully dress in piece of  a jewelry…no need to name it... just wear it!

Enjoy lovelies!

She moves! She moves!

Excited and inspired after seeing Lei Lou collection for Fall/Winter 2011/12 on the runway. I was looking forward to see the result of the photo shoot done by amazing Croatian photographer Mare Milin who I once had the opportunity to work with and was really impressed with her creativity and professionalism, styled by Alex Dojčinović and modeled by versatile and gorgeous Maja Bokan.

Alex only told me the shoot is going be about movement and I did expected some gorgeous one shoulder dresses floating romantically in the space, but I was really impressed how nicely put together were daily and business looks which surely I know by now, take you from the office straight to the dance floor with adding some sparkly jewelry pieces.

E-mail to order any of the dresses or purses here or by clicking on the button on the right side of my blog.

Other then the quality of Lei Lou pieces another thing I can guarantee on it that they never go unnoticed wherever and whenever you shall where them.

Enjoy lovelies!

Growing balls.

After dating a guy who was much better with using his balls in his profession than in private life, pardon my language. It took me quit a while to even give a benefit of a doubt to another balls carrier.

As I guess any recently emotionally wounded girl I thought I would play it safe at least for starters and to go with the type I know I like. Ouu boy was I wrong. Ladies, take it from me, the physical strength and size (height) of a guy rarely EVER corresponds with his “machoness”, just on a contrary – it rarely ever does. So here I am – learning this lesson for the God knows which time over again: The bigger the man – the smaller the balls (not literary of course, but sometimes literary to).

Therefore, I “wisely” concluded at the age of 26 – In this day and age, young women have evolved in a way that we will sooner grow balls then they (men) would utilize theirs.

If you look at what is all expected from us, and here, I am talking for real, no feminist talk, is to pace ourselves daily in order not to act and/or look like a gold-digger – because that would mean that women would focus on her looks only with a mission to merry a rich man and completely disregard her own needs for intellectual or spiritual and social development, acting inferior to boost his macho – which is just wrooong and man would feel totally used.

Secondly, we should not go into other “extreme” and be more successful than the certain bal-less individual – cause this would make him feel inferior and in no way macho man in front of others, and would totally conflict with his animalistic instinct of being sole food and security provider for the family.

Now you are thinking, maybe I should be somewhere in the middle and have a job, but not a carrier so I can look good and take care of the family and maybe then he will have balls to be a real man…but nooo, noup. Then you see – you might become boring and predictable, being with you would be too safe and you would never leave him – so he would go out and play a little – and would go to try out his “machoness” with someone else.

After careful analysis and hearing of similar experiences from my girlfriends, I have concluded I am not going to play the games and act the society labeled rolls, not any of them. In order to stay true to myself, I am not ready to take on yet another role and grow the balls myself to be a part of a relationship. Although open-minded and social as I am, I am starting to build a career and I have a job I love –but I am not a “career women”. I can be an amazing cook and I actually enjoy cleaning and doing some stuff around the house – but I am not ready to be labeled as a “housewife”. Also, I do spend a lot of money on myself, I do love expensive clothes and going to fancy places – but I am not ready or willing to take on a role of a “gold-digger” and use this as a condition when selecting a guy I would like to date.

So dear bal-less men out there, please understand, we are physically weaker gender, and yes we can do it all on our own really, but we shouldn’t have to, we should not have to take the initiative for every single thing in life and guide you through life while at the same time pacing ourselves not to make you feel inferior, so please step up and be men. Take the lead, not because it is expected – but because it should come naturally. Relationship is a two way street, so rather than observing celebrities and athletes – look at your fathers and grandfathers and look at the gentleman gestures most of them are doing. You got them, you were born with them – use them.

So ladies, did you grow your balls yet? ;)

So many hats and only one head!

There is no piece of accessory that can give a girl such an instant glam as a proper hat or a head wrap!

I absolutely adore wearing hats and the whole process of picking a summer straw hat, storing the winter hats each into its own box or wrapping a head wrap on a random day for a coffee date, talking about element of surprise in sometimes fashion wise to safe Zagreb.

Here is a selection of my favorite pieces.

I will be soon posting pics of my most recent head cover purchases ;) I hope you get inspired and try to wear one yourself! Heads will be turning!

Enjoy lovelies!

A cup of fashion

It’s been a while since I went to "Moda sa šlagom" / "Fashion with cream" - a gathering of young designers in an improvised showroom in a regular café on a Saturday morning. I used the opportunity to go this past weekend with my friend Armina from Sarajevo who is a passionate fashionista as well, so I knew she would appreciate it as much as I do.

These creative cafe showroom sales have been going on for two years now in Zagreb and have also expended and evolved internationally recently.

So this past Saturday in an old school movie theatre an improvised showroom display has been put together by 15 designers from Croatia and Bosnia displaying and selling their reasonably priced clothing and accessories.

These kinds of gatherings help young designer to experience a competitive selling environment, to learn how to present their work and most importantly how to price it according to the demand and perceived value. Other than that, it is a great opportunity for networking with extremely creative and inspiring young people.

My favorites were Mica Torbica bags and purses - I have found an amazing bag which is 3 in 1 - purse and a double face bag.

I also fell in love in gorgeous ethno looking braided necklace by Little Wonder - which Armina got me as a "visiting present", she bought the matching earrings so we can swap. :)

There were also many interesting technology inspired jewelry pieces by various designers.

Is anything similar going on in your city? Let me know! Would love to hear about it! :)

Cannes goes vintage

So, other than fast cars, easy women in expensive designer clothes holding hands with tanned older guys in polo shirts with bad hairdos - Cannes has an awesome vintage market on Sunday mornings.

Awesome - meaning that you can find vintage pieces of real value, well preserved but the prices are extremely high! (Guess they are going for above mentioned clientele).

Vintage purses and designer costume jewelry were my favorite finds.
Bellow you can see the photos of the most interesting pieces I found.

Uu...I also visited the perfume museum in Grasse – take a look at the Marie Antoinette cosmetic cases bellow! Can you say DIVAAA! :)

Enjoy lovelies!
p.s. Next time - I am taking orders and keeping the commission - hehe :)
